REcap - Acids and Bases

An acid is a substance that produces [positive] hydrogen ions (H+) when it is dissolved in water.
All acids contains hydrogen but not all compounds that have hydrogen is an acid.

Acids reacts with reactive metals to form hydrogen and a salt
(i.e., metal + acid --> salt + hydrogen)
(e.g., magnesium + dilute sulphuric acid --> magnesium sulfate + hyrdogen)

Name of salts from the acids --> Sulphuric --- sulphate
                                                    Nitric acid -- nitrate
                                                    Hydrochloric acid --- Chloride

Acids reacts with carbonates to produce salts, carbon dioxide and water
(i.e., Carbonate + acid --> salt + water + carbon dioxide)
(e.g., sodium carbonate + dilute hydrochloric acid --> sodium chloride + carbon dioxide + water)

Carbonate naming is same to salts
